David Rawiri Kuka

The body of David Rawiri Kuka, 52, was found at a Wilrose Place address after emergency services were called about 10.40pm on 11 February 2018. David had suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at 11.15pm.
Mr. Kuka lived at the Wilrose Place address where he was located.
David was a devout Christian.

Police confirm it is the same address where a Mongrel Mob member, Lance Waite was injured on January 3, before dying in Tauranga Hospital, and the attack was likely linked to the gang shooting in the same location five weeks earlier.
Police said that while Kuka lived very near the location of Waite’s killing, he played no part, it appears to be a case of mistaken identity.
Police are interested in a silver vehicle seen near the scene at the relevant time that travelled into the Welcome Bay area before and after the time David was shot.
They are also interested in a silver Ford with a red bonnet.

Police still want to speak to anyone who was in the Courtney Road, Wilrose Place, Fraser Street areas between 9pm and midnight on Sunday night on 11 February 2018.
