Name: Gordon (Gordy) Mclean

Age: 63

Height: 152 cm (4.9 ft)

Build: very thin and frail (48kg)

Last location: Wakari Hospital, Halfway Bush, Dunedin

Distinguishing features: Gordy was last seen wearing a dark-coloured polar fleece and trousers, a re-coloured polo shirt, brown slippers and a black sleeveless puffer jacket. He had no cell phone or cash. He is known as ‘Gordy’. He has limited verbal communication.

Circumstances: Mr  Mclean had been in a non-secure rehabilitation facility at Wakari Hospital, Halfway Bush, Dunedin.

About 60 volunteers from LandSAR, the Red Cross, and a rescue dog combed the suburbs of Wakari, Helensburgh, Halfway Bush, Kaikorai Valley and Frasers Gully.

Dunedin Marine Search and Rescue checked waterways and culverts.

Searchers spent more than 1600 hours looking for him.

Police were concerned Gordy may have fallen and asked residents to check their properties thoroughly, particularly in the Halfway Bush area.

CCTV footage  failed to reveal sightings of Mclean, nor had a public plea for residents to check their sections and outbuildings resulted in any sightings.

Police had also repeatedly checked a former Balmacewen property where he used to live, but to no avail.

Anyone with information was urged to ring Dunedin Police on 03 471 4800, or if think you may have seen him ring 111
