Distinguishing features:

Nigel has Asperger’s Syndrome.

He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, light brown pants, brown sneakers and possibly a denim jacket. He often wrings his hands, and could be talking to himself. Nigel walks with an unusual gait, and leans to one side as he moves. He likely has grown ginger facial hair. His bank cards have not been used since he went missing.

Circumstances:

On Nov 17 2017 @ 3pm, Nigel was last seen on Otonga Rd, heading towards Old Taupo Rd.

Later that day at 4pm, there was a credible sighting of Nigel at the Hemo Gorge intersection.

On Nov 21st, the police conducted a door-to-door search, covering more than 1200 properties in the area.

On Nov 24th, Police used heat seeking drones in the search.

On Nov 25/26th, Police covered the area south of Rotorua towards Tumunui

On Nov 27th, a helicopter was used to cover a large area around state highway 5 and Highlands Loop Rd

On Dec 1st, Police handed out flyers to all cars travelling through Hemo Gorge.

On Dec 3rd, information was received from the area around Lake Rerewhakaaitu.

On Dec 9/10th, Police and LandSAR continued searching south of Tumunui on State Highway 5, and out towards Lake Rerewhakaaitu on State highway 38.

The Rotorua Search and Rescue team had put 1328 hours into the search, and there had been 178 volunteers.

On the Dec 7th, Nigel’s disappearance was profiled on the Police Ten 7 programme.
