Location: Troy told the people he was staying with that he was going for a walk in the Waipoua Forest late afternoon Tuesday 13/10/10. Went outside and hasn’t been seen since.

distinguishing features:
He was last seen wearing size 11 steel-capped boots, black track pants and a blue top.He hjad a lighter tied around his neck, and was wearing a bone carving depicting a half-horse, half-human figure. He had no money or ATM card on him.
Circumstances:
Troy told the people he was staying with that he was going for a walk in the Waipoua Forest late afternoon Tuesday 13/10/10. Went outside and hasn’t been seen since.
Although Troy was not well prepared for the bush, he is known to have strong bushcraft knowledge and survival skills.
His disappearance prompted a search and rescue operation by 30 police staff and volunteers.
Search teams from Far North Search and Rescue (FNSAR) and Northland Search and Rescue spent two weekends searching the surrounding bush.
A week after he went missing, a pile of clothes was discovered, neatly placed on a river bank that had already been searched by several SAR teams.
There have been unconfirmed sightings of Mr Liddington in a West Coast supermarket.
